3-DAY HIKES WITH 2 OPTIONS:
OPTION 1: LUXMORE PACKAGE
Includes the Kepler, Routeburn and Hollyford Tracks
Fiordland Walks provides the ultimate hiking package. Via walks, helicopter, and cruise boat you get to experience the incredibly diverse views of native forest, towering mountains, alpine terrain, and open tussock.
Our package is suitable for ages 8 to 80 with a minimum 2 adults per booking.
We are based in Te Anau which is the undisputed gateway to Fiordland National Park and part of “Te Wāhipounamu UNESCO World Heritage Site”.
You will need sensible footwear and a small backpack (which we could supply if needed). We also have walking poles available for use.
Each day we provide morning tea and lunch. There is an expansive menu to choose from once your booking is confirmed. Whilst dinner is not included with our package, we are able to help with organising dinner reservations and offer our well-researched suggestions.
Whilst two nights is the minimum, we suggest that you plan to stay for four nights in Te Anau. We can even help organise suitable accommodation as well as private or public transport to and from the Queenstown Airport.

DAY 1: Heli Hike Including ‘The Kepler Track’ Highlights
- Departure is at 9:30 am from your Te Anau accommodation returning approximately 4:00 pm. We offer some flexibility on times if conditions allow.
- Your adventure begins with an amazing helicopter flight. This is an extended flight – meaning it goes above and beyond just transport. We fly over the largest lake in the South Island; Lake Te Anau, before flying over a group of “hidden lakes” that can only be seen from the air.
- Our first landing is a 10-minute stop on Mt Maury. At 100 meters above the Kepler Track itself, the views here are breathtaking and all-encompassing. A photo opportunity not to be missed.
- Next, we land at the Luxmore Hut and here you begin your hike through some of The Kepler Track’s most pristine alpine landscapes whilst our knowledgeable guide provides you with good humour and expertise on local geology, flora and fauna.
- On returning to Luxmore Hut you get to spend some quality time with the view while enjoying a morning tea of our famous date scones with tea, coffee and biscuits.
- From here, you have an optional hike to the top of Mt Luxmore before starting the easy trek down to the shores of the lake.
- As you descend from the alpine heights the walk transitions into stunning native vegetation including beech trees, ferns and the sights and sounds of New Zealand’s diverse birdlife.
- A boat awaits you for our short return cruise across Lake Te Anau to the Township.
DAY 2: Key Summit on ‘The Routeburn Track’
- Departure is 8:30 am from your Te Anau accommodation returning at approximately 4:30 pm. We offer some flexibility on times, conditions dependent.
- Our comfortable van takes you on a journey along the world-famous Milford Road on the way to the main divide that separates the Eglinton Valley and the Hollyford Valley.
- Here, we take you on a walk, at a leisurely pace, through some amazing bush in a meandering, well-formed track that requires a slight to medium fitness level.
- Beyond the bush line we experience some unique alpine vegetation as we zig-zag at a consistent gradient on our way to Key Summit.
- At the summit, you will experience stunning panoramic views of alpine lakes in several glacier-carved valleys, and views of some of Fiordland’s highest mountains.
- To follow up the views we take a short walk down to Lake Howden before returning to “The Divide”.
- Morning tea and lunch will be provided during the trip.
DAY 3: Milford Sound Extraordinaire
Including Nature Walks on ‘Lake Marian’ and ‘Hollyford’ Tracks
- Departure from your Te Anau accommodation will be at 7:30 am returning at approximately 6:00 pm.
- In our comfortable van, we return to the spectacular Milford Road taking up to 17 scenic photo stops with your guide providing entertaining and knowledgeable commentary along the way.
- Making a detour onto the Hollyford Road, we make one of our favorite stops for a short walk to a spectacular waterfall/cascade on part of the Lake Marian Track.
- On return to the van, we travel to the end of the Hollyford Road, where you will get a taste of the first part of the Hollyford Track followed by a walk up to the Humboldt Falls which have an incredible continuous 175-meter drop to the valley floor.
- Your journey continues through to Milford Sound where we meet up with the boutique boat for a two-hour nature cruise. Onboard you will get to enjoy complimentary tea or coffee and a wonderful packed lunch while taking in the majestic sights of the “8th wonder of the world”. Towering mountains, intriguing wildlife and spectacular waterfalls.
- Potential sightings of Milford’s unique wildlife include Keas, Seals, Dolphins, and the Fiordland Crested Penguin.
- During the morning, we supply an amazing morning tea that includes wonderful date scones, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits, and chocolates. As well as plenty of toilet stops throughout the day.
- Following a full day of adventure we will have you back at your accommodation in time for dinner, where you will have the most spectacular memories and an abundance of photos to prove it.

DAY 1: Kepler Track, Jetboat and Hike
- Departure is at 10:00 am from your Te Anau accommodation – Returning 4:30 pm (an alternative schedule can be arranged).
- We begin with transport by coach to the edge of the Waiau River.
- Followed by the most scenic jet boat ride ever. There is an amazing view around every river bend. See and even cruise through some actual “Lord of the Rings” film locations, possibly spotting some rainbow and brown trout along the way. The ride has a pinch of adrenalin and heaps of natural beauty.
- At the end of the river experience cruising along the stunning Lake Manapouri, potentially without another boat in sight!
- At approximately 12:00 pm you disembark the boat before an amazing morning tea of wonderful date scones, tea and coffee, biscuits and chocolate.
- Our experienced, knowledgeable guide will inform and entertain you as you begin a leisurely guided walk, through native trees such as the towering Beech and even taller Rimu of the Kepler Track. The occasional greetings from friendly Fantails, Bellbirds, Tuis, Tomtits, Finches and Robins will keep your camera clicking.
- The hike concludes at the large suspension bridge at Rainbow Reach where your transport awaits to take you back to Te Anau.
